Ruofan joined I-LABS in 2016 as a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Patricia K. Kuhl. She received her B.A. in Linguistics from University of California, Berkeley, focusing on speech perception research in the UC Berkeley Phonetics and Phonology Lab directed by Professor Keith Johnson. In 2014, she started her work in both speech and neuroscience research in the Chang Lab at the University of California, San Francisco, supervised by Dr. Edward F. Chang. Ruofan’s current research at I-LABS examines phonetic perception and production in children and adults, and her goal is to investigate the neural network involved in speech acquisition.
