The I-LABS MEG Brain Imaging Center opened on May 24, 2010. Washington State Governor Chris Gregoire headlined the speaking program of a gala evening event entitled “A Visit to the Future of Learning”. The event was a festive evening of science and celebration heralding the arrival of this important new regional resource that allows scientists and physicians to better understand brains in action.
The event was attended by approximately 250 of the regions’ top early learning leaders, legislators and philanthropists. Other speakers included US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Bill Gates, Sr. (both via video), as well as I-LABS Co-Directors Andrew Meltzoff and Patricia Kuhl. Attendees circulated through a series of ‘discovery areas’ in which they interacted with scientists, saw the MEG machine in action, and viewed brain data recorded from the I-LABS MEG machine.
