You might consider it the ultimate boot camp for students who want to be immersed in the work of one of the world's leading research centers on child development and neuroscience.
Described as a "soup-to-nuts science experience" by Sarah Roseberry Lytle, I-LABS director of outreach, the I-LABS summer internship is designed for budding scientists who are interested in early learning and brain science.
In early July, six smart and savvy interns -- hailing from as far as Boston and New York City and as close as Mercer Island and I-LABS' hometown of Seattle -- joined I-LABS for the hands-on science program.
The results? Training on I-LABS methods, candid discussions with I-LABS experts on the latest and greatest in the field, development of essential professional skills, and even overseeing an I-LABS exhibit at a nearby science museum.
"We were amazed by the talented group of interns we had this summer – plus they are so delightful to work with!" said Roseberry Lytle, whose outreach team coordinates the internship. "Each of them brought fascinating new insights to our work, and it was our absolute pleasure to help give them on-the-ground training of what it takes to be successful in science."
The summer 2015 internship culminates July 30 with the interns giving presentations on their experience to I-LABS scientists and staff, as well as to the interns' families and special guests.
