I-LABS studying how empathy develops in children

Dr. Andrew Meltzoff is leading a study on the development of emotional literacy and perspective taking in young children, which are core components of empathy.

Seattle preschoolers are participating in a novel study examining children's brains and social-emotional learning.  Researchers will test the relation between children's brain and behavior to understand empathic develoment.  In this video, Meltzoff and researchers visited a preschool participating in this research that uses a program called Seeds of Empathy, designed to foster empathic development in young children.
