People of I-LABS
Vibrant, super-smart and caring: these are just a few of the qualities that describe the dozens of interdisciplinary researchers at I-LABS. Their innovative ideas and technological savviness help drive the Institute's reputation as a world leader in child development and brain science.
And their kindness, professionalism and sense of humor greet all of the hundreds of families that volunteer each year for studies at I-LABS.
In the "People of I-LABS" series, we get to know the research scientists, post-doctoral fellows and other researchers who make up the elite team at I-LABS.
Please tell us a little about yourself. Where do you come from? What are you doing at I-LABS?
I was born in San Francisco, but I definitely call Seattle my home. I started out at I-LABS as a 499 earning credit at the front desk. After graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences, I moved to Spain for a year to help
Naja with her bilingualism project. When my adventures in Spain concluded, I spent a summer in Hong Kong as an English-speaking staff member at a summer camp. After my time abroad, I found myself back in Seattle working as a Research Assistant in the Kuhl Lab.
Why did you decide to become a researcher?
I had already spent so much time at I-LABS. I love the people, the culture and the science! It just seemed like the natural thing to do while I prepare to go to graduate school for Speech Language Pathology.
What's your favorite part of working at I-LABS?
I-LABS is a place where I can come to work and be paid to play with babies. I’m pretty sure loving what you do everyday makes you a happier person.
What’s something we might not know about you?
I was a competitive collegiate boxer for the University of Washington.
