Marley Jarvis, Ph.D., is an Outreach and Education Specialist. In this role, Dr. Jarvis translates and delivers accessible information about the latest research in early learning and brain development to members of the early learning community, including parents, child care providers, educators and policymakers. Previously, Dr. Jarvis specialized in informal STEM learning and public engagement with science at Pacific Science Center through the Portal to the Public initiative.

Dr. Jarvis grew up on the far northern California coast and she holds a B.A. in Biology and Environment and Technology Studies at Carleton College and a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Oregon and the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology, with a research focus on nearshore oceanography and plankton ecology. She is a former Adjunct Professor in Biology at the University of Oregon. She is endlessly fascinated with how people learn throughout their lives, and sees science communication and storytelling as powerful tools in broadening diversity and inclusivity in STEM research fields.
